Meet Susan Heatley

After almost a lifetime in Miami, Susan moved to Cashiers in Feb of 2020. Susan has been involved in many civic activities such as the Junior League, Beaux Arts and the support group for the University of Miami’s Lowe Art Museum. Deciding to get her real estate license, Susan joined the highly successful company, EWM, where she developed long-term professional relationships with customers and friends. Through her years working with her son James, she attained the honor of being invited to become a member of the prestigious Master Brokers Forum. Although real estate took up a great deal of time, she and her husband TK accepted a project for St. Philip’s Episcopal Church of Coral Gables to lead a weekly program assisting the homeless with food, clothing and hygiene on the downtown Miami streets. Almost 120 homeless were assisted from 5:30 am -7:30 am 2 times a week for 52 weeks a year.

Susan led this program for four years before moving to Cashiers and has found her new home to be a welcoming community even in the midst of the pandemic. The small community, the woods, and the animals have made for a beautiful change from the hustle and bustle of dynamic Miami. Susan continues to work with the less advantaged in Cashiers as she is an Ally supporting an individual associated with the national poverty reduction program, Circles USA.
